It's Not You, It's Me.

Some people have aspects of their financial lives that are outside the boundaries of what I typically work with. Other business owners might say I'm foolish for turning away potential clients, but I know what areas of financial planning I'm skilled in.

I would be doing you a disservice if I took you on as a client and was not the best match for your personal situation.

Below are some topic areas that are not in my wheelhouse.

My ideal clients don't have these variables in their lives. There are many advisors who are more skilled in these areas.

See the resources below to find them.

Not a Match Examples

Areas Where We Might Not Be a Match

Equity Compensation

Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Restricted Stock Units, ISO/NSO...if your employer offers these, you should find an advisor who specializes in equity comp.

Complex Business Structure

S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnerships, Foreign Businesses...these are outside of my wheelhouse.

Stock Picking/Day Trading

I do not give advice on individual stock picking or get involved with day trading.

Custody/Discretion

Under no circumstances will I be able to take custody of your money  or have discretion over your accounts. I will not be buying/selling any investments on your behalf.

Intricate Legal Matters

Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, divorce proceedings, pro-rata marital shares. If you're a federal employee, Dan Jamison is your go-to source in this area.

Elaborate Estate Planning

Settling family estates, Special Needs Trusts, dealing with a large inheritance, navigating trusts. You're better suited with a good lawyer and a financial planner who specializes in this.

I do not receive any compensation for referrals to, and I am not affiliated with Dan Jamison and/or FERSGuide, LLC. You are encouraged to do your own due diligence before hiring any third-party professional service providers.

Finding the Right Fit for You.

Below are links to lists of other financial planners.

Many of them are flat-fee and advice-only. I have no affiliation with any of these resources. I receive no compensation if you choose to work with someone from any one of these sites. In fact, they most likely have no clue who I am! As always, do your due diligence with anyone you're considering working with. Use the links from the SEC and NASAA on the due diligence page to check them out before committing to partnering with them.
