The Financial Planning Process

Step #1

Are We a Match Video Call

This no-cost introductory call is our chance to see if we're a good fit. We'll talk about your personal life, goals, obstacles, where you want to go, and what I can help with. I want to make sure that the service I provide aligns with what you need. Don't hesitate to come with questions for me.

Commitment

If we decide to work together, I'll send you a Financial Planning Agreement that will outline the details of the engagement.

We'll electronically sign the agreement and half of the fee will be due at this stage. Payments can be securely made via check or via Wave (credit card, Apple Pay, or ACH bank transfer). You will not have to create a Wave account to use this payment method.

Step #3

Data Gathering

This is an important step in the planning process, and I know it can feel overwhelming. Don’t worry, I’ll be available to guide you through the process if you hit any obstacles.

To get started, you’ll complete a detailed questionnaire and provide documents that will help me better understand your financial situation. Documents include but are not limited to financial account statements, tax returns, W-2, earnings & leave statements, SF-50, loan documents, etc.

Documents are uploaded via a Microsoft OneDrive secure file sharing link. You do not need a Microsoft account to upload your documents, you can simply "drag and drop" documents into the upload folder.

You will not be asked to link your financial accounts or use financial planning software. Throughout the process, protecting your privacy and personal information is a top priority.

For more information, please review the Privacy Policy.

More Than Math Video Call

There's only so much that I can learn through the questionnaire and financial documents that you provide. The numbers provide a lot of information, but only a conversation will provide clarity.

This is my opportunity to listen, learn, and dive deeper into specific topics.

When I'm building your financial plan, I'll almost certainly come across a decision that has two acceptable options; both options may be good, but one might be better based on your personality or preferences. The "more than math" call is an opportunity for us to go beyond the numbers and explore certain topics further.

Step #5

Building Your Plan

This one is all me. I'm going to take the data you provided, combined with the notes from our conversations, and build an actionable plan. The plan will include my recommendations, as well as some either/or options since it is ultimately up to you. We'll focus on creating multiple paths to financial success, identifying opportunities, and building layers of protection.

Plan Review Video Call

Prior to the plan review video call, I'll email you the completed financial plan so that you can review it before our conversation.

Your plan will include two distinct sections: (1) Measurable Action Plan (MAP) and (2) Details. The MAP will list the action items and important topics to review, along with the corresponding page numbers. These are the high-level "to-do" items.

The Details section is the core of the plan and contains specific steps to take, explanations for the MAP action items, and additional information on various topics.

The final / second payment is due at this point.
